Songgui Fm
Type Locality and Naming
The type section is located at Jidiping and Yuanjiaao of southeastern Yongsheng in Yunnan. It was named as Songgui Coal Seam by P. Misch in 1947, representing the black shale-dominated strata located above the Baiyang Limestone, and distributed in Lijiang and Heqing, Yunnan. It was renamed as Songjie Fm by Zhaojinke in 1962 and dated as Norian of Late Triassic. In 1966, Yunnan area survey team renamed it as Songgui Fm.

Lithology and Thickness
This formation is composed of gray, grayish-black calcareous, silty mudstone, siltstone and sandstone, often intercalated with marl and siliceous rock. The coal seam is common in the upper part.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
The Songgui Fm is disconformable in contact to underlying Zhongwo Fm with a bed of conglomerate about 10 m.
Upper contact
Overlain by the Ganhaizi Fm in Lijiang reagion.
Regional extent
The formation is restrictively distributed at Lijiang, Heqing, Yongsheng, Ninglang of northwest Yunnan.
